Na vorig jaar al een uitstekende ervaring te hebben gehad, heb ik ook dit jaar weer Adansonia digitata-zaden besteld (DRB2621).
De zaden kwamen zeer vers aan. Op 12 mei heb ik ze laten weken met twee druppeltjes Nitrozyme. Al op 20 mei waren de eerste tekenen van kieming zichtbaar. Op 21 en 22 mei kwamen er steeds meer zaailingen tevoorschijn en was het echt genieten om het proces van dichtbij te volgen.
Op 2 juni, slechts 21 dagen na het weken van de zaden, stonden de jonge baobabs al in hun eerste potjes. Het resultaat was indrukwekkend.
Dit zijn zonder twijfel zaden met een uitstekende kiemkracht en groeikracht. Voor mij opnieuw een zeer positieve ervaring.

Ik heb ook twee Beccario Phoenix Madagascariensis palmpjes van jou ( afgelopen september 2025 kunnen laten ontkiemen).
Deze in het voorjaar in de volle grond gezet, maar hadden last van de te felle zon, gauw weer in potjes gezet in de schaduw, en zie bij allebei een derde blad in de groei, geweldig.

Eerst de harde schil van het zaad verwijderd met de hand, was even een karweitje omdat na het weken het omhulsel van het zaad nog vrij taai was.
En zie, arbeid adelt met jullie goede zaden!
Ik heb de zaden in een schaaltje met water ongeveer 4 dagen in een schaaltje water op een verwarmingsmatje rond de 25 a 30 graden, elke dag water ververst, daarna de zaden gepeld.
Daarna tussen twee wattenschijfjes in een plastic zakje luchtdicht, op het verwarmingsmatje weer en na een dag of 4 resultaat., wel elke dag even zakje open gelaten en gecontroleerd op evt schimmel.
En zie, arbeid adelt met jullie goede zaden!

A dragon's blood tree from Socotra. Few people know that Socotra is an island in the Indian Ocean that belongs to war-torn Yemen. Inaccessible to tourists, and the last time I checked, there was no longer any air connection. Not profitable enough.

After a trip to Tenerife, I was impressed by the Dragon Blood Tree, and since we have a garden with many Mediterranean plants and shrubs, I started looking for the Dragon Blood Tree, but that wasn't easy... many Dracaenas are offered in garden centers, but not the real Dragon Blood Tree. Diego in South Limburg grows them himself, and I found his website on the internet. I got a good impression and contacted him to buy a small shrub... potted in Mediterranean potting soil with pumice stones and placed indoors during the winter season with little water... after the frost, I put it outside and watered it, and it grew and started forming a lot of new leaves! Good purchase... satisfied! If the tree really grows big, which is possible... I'm curious how it will do in the winter inside the house!
