It's great that you want to sow and grow the magical Dracaena Draco yourself with the dragon blood tree seeds you have! Did you know that by doing this, you also contribute a bit to the preservation of this endangered tree species?
What could be more fun than getting started to grow something from nothing? In this case, you can grow your own magical dragon blood tree (dracaena draco) from fresh seeds. It's quick and easy to do. You don't even need a green thumb if you follow the simple steps below. Moreover, I'll show you which materials are best to use to achieve success. There are complete dragon blood tree growing kits available that you can buy and start with right away. They include the seeds, substrate, growing tray, and even a dragon blood tree seedling so you can see what the result will be.
Unlike certain tropical plants, the dragon blood tree germinates quite quickly. If you have all the conditions set up perfectly, you might even see the first seeds germinate within 1 to 2 weeks. Generally, it happens more around 3 to 4 weeks, as we are creating an "artificial" microclimate. In any case, 4 weeks is relatively fast compared to some palm seeds that can take up to 6 months.
What do you need?
Sowing:
If you follow these steps, you can see the first seeds germinate within a month. When the seedling grows against the lid, it's time to repot the seedling into a larger pot (for further care, see; dragon blood tree care).
Water the seedling moderately but regularly and place it in a warm and bright location, such as on a windowsill. The dragon blood tree loves plenty of light and warmth... but not wet "feet." Follow these steps, and you'll have a grateful and magical tree for the rest of your life. Moreover, you are also contributing to the preservation and protection of this endangered tree species ;-)
I made this time-lapse video a few years ago, where you can see how a dracaena draco seed germinates and beautifully grows into a small dragon blood tree seedling. Growing a dragon blood tree is very easy and fun to do. You also bring a piece of magic into your own home.
