Dracaena Schizantha (Dragon Blood Tree of Somalia)

The Dracaena Schizantha (also known as the Dragon's Blood Tree of Somalia) can be found scattered over and along the mountain slopes of northern Somalia above the coast of the Indian Ocean, extending into Ethiopia and Djibouti. There, it is often confused with the Nubian species. Some researchers believe it is a subspecies of the Dracaena Ombet, and it is likely that the species are closely related in a few areas.

Threatened with extinction
Unfortunately, the Dragon's Blood Tree is threatened with extinction. Most are no longer available. However, the Dracaena Draco is still available. Due to my passion for the Dragon's Blood Tree, I have started to cultivate them myself, thus contributing to their protection.
