Esta leyenda cuenta que -durante la conquista de las Islas Canarias- una princesa guanche huyó de los conquistadores cuando intentaban secuestrarla. La joven se refugió en la copa del milenario Árbol de Sangre de Dragón (El Drago Milenario). Los 'conquistadores' dispararon sus flechas al drago con la esperanza de alcanzar a la mujer. Vieron caer grandes gotas rojas y sospecharon que debían ser la sangre de la princesa guanche. Los conquistadores se retiraron. En realidad, la savia roja goteó del Árbol de Sangre de Dragón, salvando la vida de la Princesa Guanche. Este jugo rojo también se conoce como sangre de dragón.
